How Covid Has Changed Our Sense of Fashion

by Sandy Jankovich on November 11, 2022

Does my mask match what I am wearing? Covid-19 has wreaked havoc across the entire world, changing the way we live, work and dress. The state of fashion in 2020 became sweatpants! Athleisure and casualization trends that were already in place prior to quarantine were rapidly accelerated. But, what about this new year? What does 2022 hold for the fashionistas?

We are most happy to report that consumers are indeed beginning to reboot their wardrobes for post-pandemic life. We are already seeing that the need for self-expression and individuality doesn’t just go away. Many people even used their shelter-in-place time to reinvent their personal style and most of us became proficient digital shoppers, to say the least. But, the consensus points to the fact that we have clearly missed the shopping experience - the camaraderie, the interpersonal engagements, and the fitting room!

According to StyleSage, global monthly searches for occasion dresses, such as homecoming, wedding guest and formal dresses were already up 200 percent in 2021 and workplace wardrobes are reemerging, but with an increase in Casual-Friday-All-Week dress codes as employees adjust to new ways of working, including hybrid office-home patterns.

With that being said, here is what to expect for your spring/summer fashion trends. It is not a big surprise to see the bright colors, bold patterns and sassy styles following such uncertain times.

VIBRANT COLORS

BOLD STRIPES

MINI SKIRTS

SHEER GYPSY JACKETS

And, footwear trends will see an increase in dressier sneakers and more practical lower heal shapes.

We have lived through a trying time, friends, and we all have to acknowledge the fact that life is fragile and that we are quite fortunate to have the fundamentals - family, health, homes, and food. Hey, we deserve a bit of shopping, no matter the method, because finding that awesome pair of designer jeans that fit just right is, well… still AMAZING!

Just be the best you and look AMAZING doing it!
